NITROMAK was established in 1988 as a joint venture BETWEEN Altay Group Companies and the Swedish Nitro Nobel together with some major Turkish industrial companies to produce high quality explosives for construction, mining and exploration activities.

NITROMAK is currently a joint venture between Altay Group Companies (ALTAY Endustriyel Yatirimlar ve Ticaret A.S. & ALTAY Koll. Sti - M. Murat Dural ve Ortagi) and SUMER Holding A.S., VIEM Ticari ve Sanayi Yatirimlari Ltd. Sti, ANG Ali Nihat Gokyigit Yatirim Holding A.S.

NITROMAK has two production facilities located in the West and Northeast of Turkey to produce Emulsion Explosives, ANFO and NONEL detonators. Emulsion explosives are sold under the trade name EMULITE.

NITROMAK markets all commercial explosives and initiation systems and also blasting equipments and accessories.

NITROMAK also provides complete blasting services using mechanised mining and charging equipments and trucks. Complete blasting services of Turkish Coal Mines including the explosives used, have been provided by NITROMAK. Annual excavation and annual volume of rock blasted is about 40 million cubic meter with an explosive consumption of 10 000 tons.

NITROMAK has significant expertise in blasting consultancy and also performs in-house research and development activities in-house. NITROMAK was the first private company granted permission by the Turkish Government to manufacture and sell explosives in Turkey and is the only private company licenced to manufacture blasting detonators.
