NSK200:

The NSK200 GSM Secure Mobile Phone is developed by Norwegian Minister of Defence (MOD) in cooperation with Chief of Defense in Norway, Security Staff (CHOD Norway) and Norwegian Defence Communication and Data Agency (NODECA) and SECTRA AB, Sweden.

Encryption:

Normal GSM phone calls are only encrypted on the radio links. In calls made by the NSK200, the calls are end-to- end encrypted. The NSK200 was certified by NATO for NATO Secret Communications, it could be used for classified speech within the Defence and Governmental Organizations.

Principle:

• The NSK200 provides end-to-end security based on strong encryption.
  
• The transparent data channel of GSM or DECT system is used for transmission.
  
• Plain text calls are made through the ordinary voice channel.

Key Management:

• Keys are distributed on small cards electronically by a Security Management Center (SMC).

Initialisation:

Basic kit. It includes at least 2 ea NSK200 and smart cards.

Telephone+Smart Card+KGC ( 40-50 ea NSK200) :
Key Generation Center (KGC) generates all the required crypto keys for the telephones in the system.

Telephone+Smart Cards+KGC+SMC (10,000 ea NSK200) :
Security Management Center (SMC) handles up to 10,000 phones and 1000 calls per hour. SMC is recommended for big users groups. SMC's capabilities are:
